I have a 2008 model Fleetwood Heritage, and as everyone knows, Fleetwood are currently in administration, which would mean that any manufacturers warranty that I had is looking doubtful to say the least. To compound this issue, the excellent dealer I bought it from has very sadly gone out of business over Christmas, which means i have no recourse to them either if things go wrong. I have a warranty that runs for another 2 years which is administered by MB&G, however, this does not cover anything expensive or critical, such as water ingress or delamination. I have asked to upgrade the warranty to cover this, but they do not sell to the public. Can anyone please recommend somewhere where I can purchase an all encompasing warranty.

Many thanks

Carl.

I have a similar query with Stowford caravans in North Devon and they are trying to find out what is happening.

If you contact them they might be willing to help you.

Hello Carl,

Domestic and General offer a range of insurace policies to cover house hold items, I do not know if they will cover a whole caravan, but they may cover individual appliances within the caravan. There are other insurers that offer similar policies.

It is always going to be judgement call. Is the cost of any policies going to be more or less than the actual cost of the repairs if any are necessary.- no one can answer that one with any certainty.

Just a technicality,

The words warranty and guarantee are frequently misused and misunderstood.

A warranty is a statement that claims a product is of merchantable quality and fit for purpose at the time of sale, and as such it rests only with the seller, and forms your basic legal rights.

a guarantee is a promise that if any specified failures occur within a prescribed period from the point of issue that in this case the manufacturer will repair or replace those items. This is conditional, (and often non transferable) and not a legal requirement.

I forgot to say that the cover under the act is for the length of the finance agreement often 5 years and is not limited to a 3year warranty period

Take it from me there is small print in every warranty from buying a car caravan to a bar of soap. If the company calls in the administrators your up the creek without a padel. You can SHOUT jump up an down write letters to this one and that one Phone your MP go to CAB get a solisiter. But in the end it comes back the company went down the pan and so does your Warranty.
