A "How Too" on how to fit extension mirrors under the car mirror, in particularly bridging
the ridge that runs along the bottom of the car mirror. May have the wrong forum, if so, I'll get mi coat.

A bit late in the evening for my reply but My Milenco's I have the Arm angle going down , so the mirror is at the same height as the door mirror.
I have the grips ( the Wedge type) as far apart as possible to stop vibration. All work well for my Sante Fe.

Likewise I fit the brackets to the top of the mirror housing on my Tucson as there is insufficient clearance between glass and housing at the bottom

I use the '"wedge type" which work well for myself, they can be obtained for different cars.

I mount them as above, but I have the v-blocks for vw/Audi cars as these were purchased for my Tiguan as the usual blocks did not fit well.
The v-blocks work well on my new Santa Fe too

No direspect intended Hutch as you have probably just fitted the mirrors for the purpose of showing what the replacement wedges look like but, in the picture they are fitted back to front. They should follow the profile of the mirror casing closely.

They are a direct replacement for the flat pads fitted as standard to the mirrors. and cost around a tenner for a pack of four.

How do you determine if these V-blocks are needed - I use Milenco Grand Aero on my present 2016 VW Touareg and my previous 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, both without V-blocks and haven't had any issue with security or stability.

The mirrors never felt secure on the Tiguan with the standard blocks and required a huge amount of tightening, the v-blocks just felt right

The V blocks, do have a lug on one side, but I found that fitted the "proper way round" on my Santa Fe, the mirror was prone to slipping off, tried them the other way round as per my photo and they grip really well.
You live and learn eh.

The pic below shows how I fit my mirrors now. As you can see the the car mirror has a good curve on the top, when I fit them there is always a variation.

The bottom of the mirror in flat and, I figure will be easier to fit securely. But where the back cover meets the front of the mirror, along the underside, there runs a ridge of about 3/16th of a inch square that I need to bridge.

I Remember a post (from somewhere) In it someone put a groove in the blocks to allow for this grove.

Is there a right and wrong way to fit these mirrors?? Think mine will hang better from the bottom, Hoping to test it before I start spending money.

On our Discovery Sport, the only way they would fit was from the bottom as the top casing was just too curved. AlthoughI wouldn’t put it past us, to have just been doing it wrong.

Our Mazda is a nightmare and at times I have resorted to strapping the bar between the clamps with a belt. I bought a pair that strapped and clipped on but even then one fell off.
