Washing Seat covers?

Our seat covers have got a bit grubby over the years so the question is when you was them do you lose the fire retardant properties?
If so is there something I can spray them with before putting them back on or even when they are back on.

First lot in washing machine!!! But have just thought of this

Yes, washing will degrade the fire retardant properties.
