Hi everyone. Maybe you saw this when it ran in the magazine last year, but here's a little light-hearted something to kick-start your bank holiday weekend – click here to read Martin Roberts' tale.

Reminds me of a similar experience I had whilst driving HGVs. We used to stop regularly at the BP truckstop at Reims, a grotty little place with a bar and a couple of showers. The type you put a coin in the slot and get a few minutes.

One night, about a dozen of us, Brits and Dutch were having a few beers when one of the lads stopped in mid sentence. You know the look - jaw hanging open and disbelief in his eyes. A Belgian driver had gone for a shower, and the coin had run out. Not bothering to dress he walked into the bar, wearing only a pair of flipflops, no towel nor anything else except for a myriad of soap suds and shampoo. Walked camly to the bar with a 10 Franc note (yeah, that long ago) and asked for some change. Totally unphased by the fact the bar was crowded and the company mixed. I cannot for the life in me see a Brit doing that.

Absolutely right Thingy....
A British chap would have made sure he put his hat on before leaving the shower!
That is, of course, if he had broken the habit of a lifetime and actually taken it off!

I always use the on site facilities for showering , if I was to take a shower in the caravan I'd probably empty the aqua roll ! I need at least 1o minutes in the shower !!

Now I know why I use the caravan shower. If I did need the toilet I would disturb no one and when I have finished I have a nice warm to my feet carpet to stand on.
The toilet compartments were getting bigger at one time and the thing on the Avondale that sold it to us was this. They do seem to have shrunk a bit since though probably to keep weight down and Lunar have certainly provided us with a smaller one but it is still workable.
