Reminds me of a similar experience I had whilst driving HGVs. We used to stop regularly at the BP truckstop at Reims, a grotty little place with a bar and a couple of showers. The type you put a coin in the slot and get a few minutes.
One night, about a dozen of us, Brits and Dutch were having a few beers when one of the lads stopped in mid sentence. You know the look - jaw hanging open and disbelief in his eyes. A Belgian driver had gone for a shower, and the coin had run out. Not bothering to dress he walked into the bar, wearing only a pair of flipflops, no towel nor anything else except for a myriad of soap suds and shampoo. Walked camly to the bar with a 10 Franc note (yeah, that long ago) and asked for some change. Totally unphased by the fact the bar was crowded and the company mixed. I cannot for the life in me see a Brit doing that.
