A GROUP of travellers have been forcibly removed from their Cleethorpes camp as council officials deal with complaints, including fly-tipping and poor standards of construction work.

He said: "The last straw came when security fencing erected to safeguard the site was picked up and put on the back of one of the traveller's trailers to be sold as scrap metal. And they did that right in front of us.

John Waite, council environmental enforcement manager, said the enforcement action came in the wake of "a high level of criminal activity and anti-social behaviour", which appeared to have taken place since the group set up camp over the weekend.

It is believed they are now bound for Leeds.

Why are these "people" allowed to be above the law? Just been reading the story and looking at some pictures on the Grimsby Telegraph web site. Disgusting mess. The land owner picking up the tab for the cleanup. The police escorted the 'travellers' off the site. Was there any tax, mot , insurance, even licensed driver4, checks done on any of their vehicles?? I bet not. Is there ever?

None of us would ever get away with it.

I don,t suppose politicians ever notice these stories, they certainly daren't become involved in doing any thing about it. 'uman rights and such like.

Now, thats where you're wrong Petjea,

Politicians do indeed notice the travellers and THEIR human rights. I can assure you they get free coaches laid on from door to door for schooling whilst our kids have to freeze their nuts off at the bus stop. They get free taxis laid on to see their loved ones in hospitals/prisons (yes, including all the kids in the family), their kids' unsocial behaviour affords them to be referred to "support" agencies where the kids are taken off their hands, taken to the flicks as a freebie (including popcorn/sweets), taken go karting as a freebie, they take over a site and then get the council in to have toilets/showers put in, are allowed to have their bins collected without paying council taxes - don't get me started on how they are overlooked!!!! Believe me, I know first hand with no question of doubt.

Apologies guys but I have to step in here and stop the 'travellers' topic dead in it's tracks.

It's nothing to do with political correctness, magazine sales or censorship, there are many website forums including caravan related forums which allow 'traveller' discussions or rants.

Unfortunately this particular forum uses software that is obsolete by todays standards, it is fine for using as a caravan forum but can be very difficult and time consuming to manage and moderate effectively.

It is inevitable that feelings will run high on such an emotive topic and we don't have the resources to lock topics. Past experience shows that topics such as this however well meant descend into fairly serious breaches of forum etiquette sooner or later and disagreements between forum members can sometimes be hurtful and result in members leaving, all of which has happened in the past.
