With £82 at stake on the Euromillions I was hoping that money would be high on my agenda this weekend. However, a £60 fine and three points on my licence was not what I had envisaged. It seems that Dorset have now adapted their traffic light cameras to catch people speeding. I went through on green but unfortunately it was a 30mph limit and I was doing 41. No excuses I know, but at Holes Rd Poole you could land a Jumbo jet, especially at 7.00am on a Sunday morning. So it's a case of ' Welcome to Dorset sir and thank you for participating in our pilot scheme. Mind how you go now.....' Best wishes, Butler

Many red light cameras are also speed cameras. All of them will log a vehicle's speed if you pass through on red. I note that you were on green as you passed, and many roads have rediculous limits, but.............. Bad luck with the driving, and better luck with the Lottery, although it's my turn first!
Oh it certainly does Derek! For some reason I missed the signs and wrongly assumed, due to the nature of the road i.e.a dual carriageway, that the limit was higher. It was a fair cop and my admittance to the offence was sent by return of post. I try not to speed and 28 years with a spotless licence will help testify to this. However, can you honestly say you never break the speed limit knowingly or otherwise? I suspect that with the proliferation of speed traps, variable speed limits, gatzos, truvelo etc. that there are an awful lot of decent drivers getting points. I am cynical about the reasoning behind it all. The continuous stream of income certainly fills the coffers. Beast wishes, Butler
we live in Swansea in Wales ,and it seems to me that the only car crime you can commit is speeding , parking on double yellow lines or on the pavement , or kids riding around in broad day light on motor bike with no crash helmets , most look under age all this is completely ignored , plus caravans parked on the road with no lights , i have lost count of drivers with a phone stuck to there ear

Come and live in Wiltshire they have closed down the Speed Camera Partnnership. Swindon switched of the cameras probably about 12 months ago and accidents have fallen significantly although I think that there were 2 more serious ones than in the year before. What the data failed to show was if the accidents were related to speed and if they were within a speed camera control zone. What Swindon, and now Wilts have done is to increase Police patrols which I think is the way to go as they can catch uninsured, drink/drugs, stolen vehicles etc and a whole range of other infringments. Also a Police presence tends to sharpen up driving manners on other road users.
i agree with you otherclive , more police presence to catch all the other offences wich seem to be ignored
