water filter housing

hi all

it looks like I have been stupid enough to overtighen the filter in the housing and cracked it as water now leaks from the btm of the filter. the only ones that seem to be available are the new redesigned type that requires a new pump because the connector has been altered.

anyone out there know of a perminant repair/bodge as the new housing/pump comes out at over £100.

Same thing happened to me when I undid the filter last year. Luckily I managed to save the plastic bits that made up part of the thread. With avery steady hand, I very carefully managed to Superglue the bits back into place and left its for a good while until I was happy the at the glue had "gone off". I managed to put the new filter back in place and smeared plenty of vaseline onto the threads to aid the undoing process next time round. I have managed it this year and have not had a problem with leaking. Howver, I never overtighten the unit now.

sorry folks I should have explained it better as it doesn't really make sense as it, doh;

what I appear to have done is split the whale filter housing case it's self at the btm straight through the tread and along the btm of the housing about 50mm

when the filter(which is perfectly ok) is screwed in even lightly it opens the gap and water pours out from the btm.
