Hi I’m After a little advice, After filling the hot water tank I switch the control on to heat the water but it took ages to heat and I couldn’t hear the tank bubbling away as it usually does. Eventually I messed about with a the controls and gas an it started to get hot. After looking in the manual it shows a control for gas and another control for electric(electric has el next to it instead of just the flame picture) I thought my hot water tank was heated by electric not the gas, I
Or is my water heater gas only?

Hello, because caravans are basically designed to be able to be used anywhere, the appliances that tend to use a lot of energy such as heaters and cookers will be capable of running on gas. Fridges are also multifueled as they need a long term supply of energy.

Unless you can tell us the make and model of water heater we can't really offer specific advice.

It’s Truma, these 2 dials on the wall opposite the fridge. One dial does the heating which turns between 0/500/1000/2000. The other is the dial that does the water and only switches between Off and on which is a picture of a flame

Sounds like you have the Truma Ultrastore system. The of on switch is for the water to be headed by mains electric. The temp is controlled automatically. It should never get hot enough to bubble. But it will be too hot to put your hand under it. The rotary controller heats the water using gas and is temperature adjustable. When using gas you must remember to remove the cover from the vent on the side wall of the caravan. For fast warm up both gas and electric can be used at the sane time.

Like Glennon I suspect it is most likely to be a Truma model. You would be wise to a set of operating instructions to enable you to get the best from your appliance Google "Truma manuals" which should allow you to find their site. They have manuals for legacy products. You may also find some videos about using Truma products.

The hater is dual fuel and can run on gas or electricity or both together. It does sound as though there is a problem with the electrics though as it should heat up reasonably quickly on that. Given the age of the heater I do wonder if this is limescale on the electric element (we have had this problem with this setup) although others might have alternative ideas.

Yes it is the ultra store system

And yes also a red light beside it.

Both the uktrastore and the ultra heat have the same red and green lights on them

So is the ultra heat dial solely for the heating and the ultrastore solely for the water heater.

The ultra heat works perfect. I turn the dial to 500 1000 or 2000 and the caravan heats up as it should.

I turn the ultrastore to the flame and it don’t warm up right away. Then I mess around with the dials and the gas then somehow it starts heating up.

I’ll go take a picture of the dials in a minute
