water heater

turned on my water heater last week went outside playing with the kids and i could hear big bangs didnt think anything about it till i went in the van and it was as loud in the van as it was outside turned the water heater off and it stopped any ideas

Almost certainly the appliance needs to be serviced. do not use the appliance untill it has been checked.

As it is a gas appliance this must be done by a gas competent person.

aiden this might sound mad but was there water in the tank before you switched it on i always check that there is water coming out the hot tap before switching on the heater gas/or elec

cheers

Duggie

thanks for that ill make sure next weekend didnt think about air in the hot water side makes sense now just like the cold water tap after you have just filled up

when you connect up your water supply run the hot water supply to all tap's until all spluttering has stoped. this indicates the heater tank is full & air is purged from the system

This has nothing to do with if theres water in the tank or not, there is a problem wth the gas 'burner module'and as JL says, needs expert attention
