Water pressure switch Bailey Senator Louisiana S5

Hi All

Does anyone know where the water pressure switch is located ? Have looked all round heater/ pump (Whale Aquasmart). Can't find it. Problem is water pump cycles for a few moments every 20 seconds or so with taps all closed and then switches off. No evidence of water leak on high pressure side from piping or taps. Any suggestions much appreciated!

Hello Tony,
First welcome to the forum.

Now to your problem, The symptom of the pump continually cycling means there is a leak somewhere. If you have eliminated the taps and pipework, then that leaves the inlet non-return valve.

The Whale web site tells us the Aquasmart pump incorporates the pressure switch, and whilst it doesn't tell me directly about the non-return valve I suspect that will also be included. If the non-return valve does not seal properly, it allows the pressurised water in the pipe work to weep back to the barrel. So you wouldn't see it as a leak. As it does so the pressure drops causing the pump to restart.

Some times carbon filters allow a few grains of carbon out of the filter and some of these may have compromised the non-return valve seal. It may just need a careful dismantle and clean, But as I haven't seen on I don't know how feasible that is.

My Senator has the same system.
Prof has mentioned the most common problems.
Check the hot water drain tap.These can stick and drip.
Change the carbon filter that goes into the aquaroll and the o rings on the plug part that goes into the side of the caravan.

Do you get the problem when linked to the aquaroll or inboard tank or both?

Van is on an island in Croatia and supplied direct from a 1000 litre water tank : no filters but the water we are supplied does have funny bits in (grit, fibres, other things), so one or more of these may have got into the system. Will check O rings on plug part and hot drain tap : if no joy there, looks like I may need to bring a new pump out in the spring.

Wont fix your problem but there is a gauze filter on the inlet to the pump which slows the flow badly when grit blocks it,the push fit fitting unscrews from pump to access it.Also if you fit a new pump you will need the three wire one,I was told only two wire was available and pump run light wouldnt work,then the correct pump was magically found,about £100ish
