Water Pressure.

Hi Guys Merry Xmas from Tony in Australia.

Hey guys we have just bought a 2011 Bailey Unicorn Seville and have noticed when we connect the Whale Aquasorce and turn taps on the water runs ok but not with any real firce/pressure until I put on the master switch & pump switch near the door then it runs great.

Is this the norm even when connected to site pressure water.

Using the aquasource or direct connection, it will have a restrictor in it probably at the head to avoid over pressurising the internal system in the caravan. The pump will not be in the system unless you have an onboard pump which will account for the better pressure when it is switched on. I am not familiar with the Seville.

Some of us with the capability of a direct water connection prefer to use the direct connection to refill the external barrel daily, or as required, and have the caravan fed from the barrel using the conventional submersible pump (or onboard pump in some cases).

The rationale is that the mains water pressure has to be regulated and the usual regulator is lower pressure than the pump.

Direct feed generally has less pressure than pump and aquaroll due to technical wizardry of the “Godknowswhybutitdoes” kind 😀
So yes, it is the norm.

Purely a technicality, direct connection hose pipe systems have a regulator not a restrictor. A simple restriction would not prevent the mains water pressure from reaching the caravan's plumbing. A regulator actively adjusts the passage of a fluid through it's body to control the maximum pressure it can exert down line of the device.
