Has anyone got ideas to solve problem of water pump not switching off.
I have a truma water system (no pressure switch) and after the winter, have filled the system for the first time but the pump did not stop running and the pressure build caused the taps blow the water pipes off, the pump only stopped when the electric for the pump was switched off.
I have since dissconected the bathroom tap and can hear the micro switch on the kitchen tap click on and off when tried but the water tank does not seem to fill it is as if the water is going straight to the tap, all this and the pump does not switch of, only when electric to the pump is turned off. HELP

Hello Noggys.

Clearly something is not right, but there are some inconsistencies in your report that make me suspect you have not fully understood your system.

For the pump to be able to develop enough pressure to blow the pipe work apart Of suggest that you have an in board diaphragm pump, as ordinary submersibles are unlikely to be able to develop enough to that sort of damage.

Most diaphragm pumps need a pressure switch to prevent just what you have described, and many of these pumps have a pressure switch built into the pump body - (see your pumps instructions)

So it seems as though the Pressure switch may be faulty or not properly adjusted.

As for the water not filling the tank, Which tank are you referring to? the hot tank or do have an inboard cold water tank?

You have not really provided enough information, so I think you may be best getting your caravan dealer to assess the system.

Having micro switches in the taps does not necessarily mean the caravan maker uses them, the system as John questions could still be a pressure switch based one. We had exactly this on one van.
As John said if its blowing pipes off then it all but certainly has to have a positive displacement pump and in turn that is most likely to be pressure switch controlled. Those pumps that I know of all have internal pressure switches but again I have known builders not use that switch but fit a more refined in system switch.

We have a elddis avante 2002, it's the truma ultrastore hot water storage tank thats the problem as there is no cold water tank and we have an external submersable water pump. We have remembered that when we drained the system for the winter after lifting the yellow valve to open it seemed to take a while for the water to start draining out.
