Water Pump Replacement.

Hi everyone. I am new to this site. I want advice on replacing a Carver water pump. Mine has "retired", just ceased to work last time out. Has anyone had a similar malfunction. Is the job a difficult one? Now Carver is not made, what make did you replace with. Hope you can help.
