Water Pump

Hi

When I run the taps and initiate the water pump, the lights dim and the television goes off. This happens even when I am on electric hook up, is this normal? Is there any way of boosting the amount of 12v power available?

Cheers

Scott,

You say it is the same when connected to the mains. I assume your battery charger is switched on,is working ok, and the battery is charged up. Is your television working on 12 volts?

If the answer to these is yes, I would try another pump in case your pump is faulty. Rather than buy a new pump I would see if someone will lend you one just to test.

Hi

Yes, battery charger on and working. The television runs off 12volts. When you switch the taps off evertyhting is fine. There just not seem enough 12v power available to run the lights tv and water pump together.

You could also suspect your battery. If it's not holding it's charge, you may be running your TV (and any other 12volt items) directly from the charger. This may be enough for the symptoms you describe. Same again, see if you can borrow a battery to check it out, if you can't test it properly yourself.

Also, how good is the charger?

Hi Scott, buy or borrow a hydrometer, insert it into each cell and see whether all cells are equel, if not then its the duff cell which is pulling it down.Simple?.
