We have a Compass 505 and I find that the water flow at the kitchen is ok but the combination tap/shower tap its very poor. Has anybody got some ideas to improve this it doesnt seem to change even being on an hook-up. Thanks BAZZ.

If your van is the same as ours its in line with the water heater but between the heater and the taps.

Thanks VJ

Isn't that the pressure switch for switching the pump on and off.

I thought that just affected the pressure switch to the taps rather than the water output at the taps.

But you live and learn

Perhaps Gary could give an expert opinion

Hi John

quoting the adria handbook- after priming all taps -

1 close all taps

2 leave power supply on

3 turn adjuster screw on the pressure switch fully clockwise. Pump should now be running.

4 Partly open the furthest cold tap from the pressure switch to allow water to flow at a rate of 1 pint per 15 seconds.

5 Slowly turn the adjusting screw (on the pressure switch) anti-clockwise until the switch starts to click. The switch is now properly adjusted. Under some circumstances the switch may require a further quarter turn to settle the system.

6 Pressure switch may need further adjusting to respond to variations in 12volt supply e.g operation on battery only or with mains connected and charger working.

NB a surge damped is fitted which should stop the pressure switch from chattering when adjusted correctly.

That is as much info as I can find on it, there is a diagram which shows the switch.

Is this the only adjustment possible then do you think??

Hi VJ

I would say that it is the only adjustment possible.

On a microswitch system the taps switch the pump on and its the pressure switch that is just doing the switching on a pressure system .

The pump determines the pressure of water and this can be up-rated if a better flow is required.

If the shower head or pipework is restricted/kinked that would affect the flow out of the shower.

Voltage drop through thin cable could also reduce pump performance

Hi Bazz - had similar problem once. problem turned out to be the filter on the end of the tap was clogged up with tiny carbon particles from the whale in-line water filter. If your taps are similar - with screw on mesh filter at the end - check this out.

There doesn't appear much wrong with pump/presure if one tap is working ok.

That's what I was getting at .

Certainly at home the shower performance is reduced by lime scale in the tiny holes in the shower head.

It could be that its further to the shower tap which wouldn't help flow but as you say if its OK at one tap etc that points to some restriction/kinking of the pipe in between.

Hi all thanks for your replies. I dont think there is a pressure switch in the system but I will be checking it out, the filter in the tap/shower head was removed some time ago. I was thinking more of upgrading the pump, and if so what to? Pipe work within the van looks to be all one size there should be no differance in volume of water going to the kitchen as opposed to the bathroom tap. Also had thoughts of fitting a proper shower head and taps and a tap for the basin? Bazz.
