We have just been gifted a weber q1000, is there an easy (cheap) way to convert it to use the gas point on van as opposed to the small canisters?
Yes there is. First a length of suitable gas piping and secondly the connection to the gas point on the caravan. We had a length of 2m to keep it well away from the caravan and the porch awning. Our gas point was on the front nearside so easy to access. We have just been gifted a weber q1000, is there an easy (cheap) way to convert it to use the gas point on van as opposed to the small canisters?
Thanks, did you just use a normal gas bottle connection?Yes there is. First a length of suitable gas piping and secondly the connection to the gas point on the caravan. No, it is push on connector. Unfortunately I cannot remember the exact name of it, but a caravan dealership should know what it is called. Thanks, did you just use a normal gas bottle connection?
My bad. When checking the web page I never noticed the insert about the disposable cylinders so thanks for highlighting this very essential safety issue. There is a gas safety issue here.
According to the Weber web page The BBQ is designed to run on the disposable cannisters of LPG. These are usually Butane gas, and the gas is supplied at bottle pressure to the burner.
Thank you for posting the service manual. Here is the Weber Q series bbq owners manual. There are variants that run off of cartridges.( butane-propane mix). Some run off of refillable cylinders.(propane) The OP should identify which his runs off.
For the volume of gas you get in one they are very expensive!I would just leave it as it is. With the small cartridges you get infinite portability with it without the caravan. They are cheap as chips if buying somewhere like Go outdoors own brand. If wanting to use in cold weather then other suitable canisters are available with a propane/ butane mix. Albeit more expensive as they tend to be targeted at cold weather campers. I’ve got a number in the garage for two stoves we have, plus emergency needs when a degree of “prepping” may come in handy.
Yes kg for kg that’s correct. But you have unlimited ability to locate it on your pitch, plus portability to other locations such as beaches, country picnics etc. The cartridges are available throughout Britain and Europe. For the volume of gas you get in one they are very expensive!
