Hi
can you tell me how I find out the weight of our caravan. I have put the make and model into google but it just keeps returning 'no weight recorded for this model. ' it has even stated if we find the info to contact them and let them know. As its a 94 model it doesn't find it on towingcar info. i will extremely grateful for any help

Hi, Even back in 1994, the caravan manufacturers were fitting data plates to caravans with the relevant weights on them. Have a good look around the caravan and you should find one. Alternatively, and assuming the caravan manufacture is still in business, would could contact them, and they might be able to tell you. Its possible that another forum contributor may have the same caravan as you, so if you were to provide the make, model and year of the van someone may be able to help you.

Hi sazle1969. You don't say what caravan it is that you have,it would help considerably if you did!!!
A quick'ish way would be top take your caravan to a weighbridge but first make sure that it is empty because at the period that you indicate that your caravan was made they were still using the terminology Ex Factory Weight to describe the empty weight. In 1992 some manufacturers also supplied and included the weight of a spare wheel but few if any included a battery.
You will also need to establish what the Maximum Authorised Weight is,the difference between the two will give you your maximum permitted payload.
When you start working out what is going to be loaded you would be best keeping an inventory of what it is and the weight of it and keep it for future reference as it can be very very easy to overload a caravan.
Practical Caravan Magazine has a section that contains a sketch of the typical manner of loading a caravan so as to reasonably ensure that weight is distributed correctly.
