Hi well this is the third time i have tried to post this lol:i have just returnd from our first ever trip with a old but very nice swift danette unladen weight 650kg max 950 kg we use a mondeo estate td kerb weight 2225kg,on the outward journey we had the spare wheel in the front locker as well as a large bag of tin foods plus about a further 7.5kg all at the front,we went at 50 up hill down hill all A roads without a movement from the van,on our return we had a pucture on the van i had my hydrolic jack and socket set in the boot,been lazy i put the puntured wheel and toolbox etc in the boot instead of in the van it was pitching very bacly,on my return i weighd the front of the van:i used a piece of wood 4in square under the A frame just under the handbrake area on to the bathroom scales with only the spare in the front locker nothing else not even the battery it was bang on 70kg,have i weighd the van right,i was not using a stabilizer i have a snakemaster but i need a bracket for the car,having said all this we had a great time and we are looking forward to our next time,although it was the firt time i have ever towed a cravan i have many years experience of driving large vehicles.steve

The noseweight should be measured right where the towball goes. If you measured under the handbrake, which is a little further back, your reading will be a somewhat higher than what the actual noseweight is, but the difference should not be that great and the effect on stability only marginally noticeable if you were spot on in the first place.
