Well done C&CC!

Having in the past criticised the 2 main Clubs for failing to listen to its members, may I offer this compliment?
I am currently on an Autumn Seasonal Pitch which works out at less than £7 per night all in. An annual wi-fi card cost £42, so that's less than £1 per day. The site is immaculately kept and well managed. The staff do an excellent job. In my book, that all adds up to ann amazing deal. At last someone has acted on the complaints of high pitch and wi-fi charges. The site is also ideal for dog lovers. The sheer number and variety on site is incredible.

Good luck with it. Price is good, but too many restrictions as awning has to be taken down if you vacate and everything has to be put inside the caravan. Might as well tow it to the site as it will work out cheaper unless to stay a long way away.

The C&CC book/mag publishes details of these offers. Can't work out how towing away from site could save money? Yes - you have to vacate the site every 21 days but we use a simple cooking tent so it's no problem packing that in the back of the car. The van stays on site ready for our return. As the modern jargon has it - it works for us.

At last a site with common sense!
If every site with seasonal pitches did this the rest of us would'nt have to look at a "shanty town" whilst on site, some people just dont go there for months on end and and things begin to look tatty, one site I stayed on the awning roof was like a swimming pool and the warden had to call in two extra men to go inside and push the water up and away, next morning it was the same again after another downpour. A couple of other awnings were blown down and some one had roped them to the van!
That said the guy next to him came down every two weeks to check his out fit and to cut the grass close to the awning which the site mower couldnt get to, mind you he had the smallest mower I had ever seen but it did the job.
Think personally there should be more restrictions like keeping the area neat and tidy and at least if the awnings were gone they could get in close to cut the 2 foot high grass! Oh and you should wash the van on a regular basis!

Actually if you work it out £7 a night is quite expensive, but it all depends on how often you will be using the caravan. If only on weekends or maybe a week here and there it could be expensive.
If we were to be on a seasonal site, I would be wanting to leave the awning erected and the windbreaks up so that all we need to do is put out the water barrel and the waste master when I arrive on site.
Good luck with it!

Obviously much depends on how many days you are on site. However, my point is that CCC is at least trying to offer deals that are relevant to some members at a price which is affordable. Quite a change in attitude from the old stuffy ultra conservative view. I have moaned about the Clubs' attitude in the past - it's only fair that I compliment them when I think they are doing well.

........on a different point concerning the C&CC.

I am leaving 'The Friendly Club' after 18 years of membership.
I have recently discovered their club rule that they do not give refunds to members under any circumstances.
In my case for cutting short a booking on a club site through unforeseen circumstances.......namely due to a serious car breakdown.
The site was only half full.
The attitude of the club right up to head office level has been one of .....that is your problem you do not get a refund.
Whilst I respect the right of any club to set its own rules.......I cannot accept this particular rule especially as membership costs me £41 per year.
The club is owned by its members after all

The next weekend I was booked to attend the Practical Caravan rally at Stowford Farm Meadows....a purely commercial camp site.
I explained to them my tow car was being repaired due to an unexpected break down. They kindly refunded me a £37 voucher out of a £52 booking which I was more than happy with.

Britannia Rescue also did a faultless job of recovering my car from the roadside and caravan from the camp site and returning both to my home address. The recovery of 120 miles took 6 hours from first phone call to being all sorted and at home drinking a cup of tea.
