We're new to all this

We've just bought our first caravan (Elddis Ashington GT) to see if we will like it. Being used we think some of the bits and pieces are missing. Its 4 berth with the side dinette bunk bed design, but there is no mattress for the top bunk. Is this normal? Any suggestions as to how or get one. We were thinking of getting a bit of foam cut. Anyone got any suggestions on a crash course in what you do with all the tanks and sockets. We are planning a trip in a couple of months. I'm sure we will be terribly unprepared.

Hi Lee We also have an elddis ours is an odyssey we used to have a van with side dinette and yes there should be a matress with it you could try advertising for one on this site that might help, but as far as caravanning is concerned its fab we are in our 30s and 40s with kids and we love it, we are away every other week, our van never goes to sleep for winter, cant wait for summer

Thanks Yorkie Puds. We are also in our 30's with a 6 year old and 4mth old. Hoping to go away somewhere in the next school holiday for a couple of days to try it all out.

hi lee, we are a family of 4. we are in our mid 30's nearer to 40's now though. we have two boys 13 and 6 and a staffordshire bull terrier who almost 3.

we started caravanning in sept 2005 my partner had done it as a child and his parents still do so he knew some of the ropes. i dont blame you buying 2nd hand first because we bought our 1st van brand new fixed end bunks and side dinette but it was bottom of the range. the kids hated the bunks so we have now bought a new 2008 sterling elite onyx this is it we cant afford to change now for many many years. this layout is side fixed bed side washroom but top of the range and it was bought for our needs not the kids.

im sure you will have many many hols in it.
