Whale pump failure

Just been away, terrible time, one thing after another. Final straw, Whale pump started blowing the 10 amp fuse (pump fuse) after only a few seconds pumping. Got through 5 fuses in as many minutes, then gave up. Took the pump to Highbridge caravans, tested it across a battery (no fuse) said it was fine and to check wiring in van. Did so, all fine. Tried a 15amp fuse (silly I know) and pump now dead (unsuprisingly) Does anyone know what cause could be. Was it a faulty pump after all perhaps shorting out, cos it wouldnt blow a fuse across a battery would it? Came home early, couldnt ace a week without running water. Please help.

Pump may be 7 or 8 years old, caravan a 2000 model pageant
