I fear that we were damned with faint praise by Erin, DD
To be fair Parksy she is batting for us.
My personal regret is that no one from Hay market stands up for us publicly.

Maybe they decided to pull straws on it and Martin Roberts got the short straw ?

From the plasticky, bulky, rotting exterior to the wipe-clean, strange-smelling interior, the caravan is a cultural, aesthetic, congestion-inducing insult. They give this country a bad name'
If that's batting for us DD I'd hate to see what she'd have written if she agreed with Ray Mears and despised us, oh wait a minute......
Martin Roberts writes regularly for PCv and he proved to be a brilliant ambassador for us in his interview, so it could be argued that Martin represented Haymarket I suppose. At least he knew what he was talking about because he's one of us, a real caravan owner who enjoys real family holidays in his tourer, pays the same pitch fees as us and has the same mishaps and repair bills ๐Ÿ˜‰

.......I just let people who slag off caravan owners get on with it. :cheer:
It is after all a common view........even my own brother thinks my wife and I are nuts for owning a caravan!

Ray Mears has always made me chuckle as I can't help but think of him as he is being filmed for his programs, with a camera man, sound recordists, drivers, helicopter pilot, ground crew all with numerous vehicles and supplies.
If you watched our old mate J. Clarkson being chased out of Patagonia you will get the picture as to what a film crew looks like.
Ray Mears may sit there rubbing two sticks together to make fire but he needs a modern industrialised country to provide the equipment to produce the programs for people to watch on their mass produced TVs.
He probably has a marketing team and a factory somewhere producing a neatly packaged Ray Mears Instant Heat Kit........2 sticks + wood shavings!

Spot on Bill! Ray Mears does indeed have a marketing team and he sells quite a bit more than the two sticks and wood shavings, Click Here to see his online shop.

Point taken Parksy.
I'd read her report differently but can't argue with your transcripts. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just listened to part of the show, and must conclude 2 things: Parksy, you did us proud, and: Martin Roberts needs an honorary membership of the Woosies...a great defender of the faith!
