why is that when you go for a new caravan you get ripped off for your part ex,we have a elddis 524l that isnt even a year old which we paid £14000 for it.

when asking about part ex for a 2006 model we got told we would only get , £8900 how can a van that is not yet a year old be worth £5000 less

Neil, it is no different with cars, the initial depreciation is horrendous, thats why its worth keeping the van for a few years.

You lose, at first trade in the Delivery Charge, which you paid, the 17.5% VAT plus the model you are trading in is not the current model.

Neil, Was this quote from the dealer you got your current caravan from. Another dealer will often give you a lot more on a part ex because they want your business.

The same thing happened to us a few months ago and we were offered a lot more from a different dealer.

Why not visit a Caravan Show (NEC/The Lawns) where you will be in a better position to pit one company against another.

The Lawns (Cottingham) is on this weekend (Sat/Sun) and is well worth a visit if you live reasonably local to the area. The NEC is a much larger show (Birmingham). They show motorhomes and also have a large number of stalls selling all sorts of accessories.

It really is worth a try - you never know you might just get the bargain you are looking for.

I have 2 sons.One sold his on E-bay this year and the other son bought his on E-bay ( he made a point of going to see it first ) and got a really good deal.
