What a waste of storage space under the van...

For those of us who use full length awnings, it's always struck me that there's a missed opportunity to take advantage of the hitherto wasted storage space under a caravan. Fore and aft of the wheel, there are two "closet" spaces ideal for pushing shoes, wellies, brushes, etc, etc, out of the way and out of sight. Awning skirts, of course, seal off the space completely, but if someone enterprising person/firm would design a special awning skirt with two fully sealed recessed pockets built in and a flap over the front, I'd be the first to buy. Any one out there know of any such innovation, or capable of making one??

You would have an issue on uneven ground. The Closet either has to sit on the ground or be above it.

I like your thinking - idea has definite merit.

It would be more difficult to put on then a normal awning skirt and I think sloping hill sides could be more of a problem than uneven ground.

I am sure you could get someone to make up one offs but perhaps a DIY kit might be the answer - as taking into account differences between vans TA/SA, lengths etc might provide problems with off the shelf items.

wonder if it would be possible to make a zip out panel on the skirt I have on awning now, cut a hole in skirt stitch on a zip then make up the compartment and attach zip to attach it. you could then put a a zip on the bit you cut out for hole in case you didn;t need to use the storage. Will have to ask mother in law if she can try it with her trust sewing machine
