What can a van stand?

Sitting here in the van facing the sea and a gale with all rattling arround, I wonder what can a van actually stand?

I keep saying to my wife that they can stand 60mph winds on the M6 so we should be OK !!!!

I'm glad its a low high tide tonight!

Not sure exactly, but we have certainly had a few occasions on the west coast of Wales, where trying to sleep in the caravan has felt like trying to sleep in a plane that is flying through turbulance.

I have never measured the wind speed but we have been out in some very strong winds. When my wife gets worried I either put the car wind side of van to protect the van a bit - works quite well, and if it is like it when we arrive I park - when permitted - facing into the wind. I have seen a friends van lift a wheel but it was empty at the time, still didn,t get anywhere near going over though.

Have been in an official force 9 and was ok. The thing to remember is that all the buffeting loosens the corner steadies, so keep tightening them up. Put the car on the windward side.They dont call it Newgale for nothing with us in w wales.

The worst weather we have been in was at Sango Sands site on the north coast of Scotland, it is very exposed. OH hitched the van to the car to try to stabilise it, plus we turned the nose into the wind.

Not much sleep that night!
