What do I need to repair my van gutter to a) attach it to the fibre glass roof and )b provide a waterproof seal?

My van has a fibre glass roof which slots into a metal gutter.and it leaks.
The gutter has been completely filled with a compound, don't know what. Not sure if it was a previous fix or was it part of manufacturing process. I removed some, to find a rubber section running along the outside edge of the gutter overfilled with the compound.
There is small intermittent gap on the gutter outer edge which I am not sure if it should be there or not.
When I removed some of the compound completely the fibre glass roof sprang away from the van. No screws, rivets or other obvious means of attachment.
Any advice on how to fix appreciated.

Hi Wattsits. Please provide pictures, make model and year.

My guess is it’s a campervan. And a previous owner has done a botch job. Perhaps the roof need removing and reseating properly.
