What is the file?

The website shouldn't be attempting to load files onto your computer Lord B, I'll try to find out

I've just had the same thing. It appears to be an IP address logging program, one site I found says it is associated with Google! I run 'Peer Block' and had it turned off and forgot to turn it back on, as soon as I hit Peer Block it stopped it as a known problem

Doesn't come on using Opera, as soon as I used IE I got the download box asking if I wanted to download the prog.

No LB - does it say what the file name is or anything?

I haven't a clue what the file is. I.E. bar comes up saying it's stopped this file, click the bar for what to do. Then asks 'do I want to download the file', 'ignore' or 'whats the risk'.
I just cancel incase it automatically installs whatever it is on my computer.
So far it hasn't happened today although it did a few times yesterday.
