Sorry prof, I read it wrong too! For us, it would have to be a form of heat.
Doesn't matter what form it takes, but it is essential, sometimes even in summer.

I did ask about which kit has become essential, and it has surprised me that most of the responses have majored in health. So I'll as again what bits of kit are the key to continuing with caravanning?
Sorry Prof..
I would have to say my motor mover. I have to negotiate a bit of a dog leg on my drive and as we get older can't push van in now.

There is no need to be sorry about previous answers, whilst they may not have been on topic, it has been interesting to the less focused view on the subject.

Please keep your thoughts coming.

Having had parents who were keen caravanners I recall gas mantles for lighting and footpumps for extracting water - bucket outside for waste water - nowadays I particularly appreciate the cassette toilet and 12 volt and mains lighting - I cannot really think of anything which would stop me caravanning with maybe the exception of the nanny state taxing our hobby and having mot checks as mandatory - it has become apparent that nightly charges at some sites are tantamount to hotel charges

I think Boff has hit it on the head, the only truly essential item is FUN. When the fun stops..................thats the end.

We have only joined the caravan community about a year and a half a go and have already upgraded our caravan, For me and the wife it would be relaxation and fun ,the motor mover, heating and the electric coolbox to ensure we have a cold beer on arival on short trips.

Can’t wait for the analysis and final solution

More of my wifes dental appointments, EHU's would be my biggest bug bear as we don't have solar panels, and trying to educate the boss that she cannot have all the lights on all the time at night, would be hard, at home the light are down low, but in the caravan she has almost all of them, on at night.

The biggest thing that does restrict what we would really like to do is the ferry fares for the car and van.
This time of year is generally supposed to be "off " season but the fare for a crossing tomorrow and return a week later is £150.
So, that is £150 before we even start our journey to our destination.

The porch awning which is used all year. We store the dog food , coats boots , table chairs etc. It’s somewhere to get your wet kit off after a muddy walk plus wipe the dogs down. Imagine the mess and dirt in the caravan without it :woohoo:

Don't blame the dogs, you know that you would be lost without them. Mud magnets both if anything like our two.
