Morning Darren,

I have just recently upgraded my caravan to a twin axle, therefore upgrade my Powertouch mover from a single axle to an All wheel mover (4 rollers). I have to move it on my drive. I was advised when speaking to Powertouch and looking at their website that if i upgrade to a 2 wheel mover it might struggle under the weight of the van.

It depends on your budget, 2 Rollers is

Darren

I have a two roller Truma on my S6 Wyoming which works fine and is a bit quite a bit cheaper if your budget is tight. It doesn't hit your MTPLM user payload as hard as the 4 roller kit either.

You MUST have a mover of some sort to get into the right attitude on some sites, but don't expect a twin axle to spin on its axis like a single because the centre of rotation lies betwixt the axles and no matter what claims are made for 4 v 2 there is still tyre scrub and the van swings slower. you just have to go back and forth a bit, not difficult.

Best bit of all is dabbing the controls to get a precise hitch up position - no more shouting at your beloved or smacking your prize motor!

Happy hunting.

I wouldn't bother mate. Just use the tow car if your only concern is parking the caravan on site?!

I haven't yet found a site where I could not reverse our 20ft twin axle van or or current 18ft single axle van onto the pitch with our 2 litre 2 wheel drive Laguna estate.

Much more impressive if you can demonstrate excellent driving skills.

Furthermore a lot of sites have their pitches set up so that you can drive on forward and off forward these days to make it easier.

Get a mover and make life easy, you can demonstrate to the watchers how good you are with a hand held remote control. Now that is impressive.

ps and you can also train the the wife in it use !!!!

we have a truma te and it moves our van ok, not with easy but OK, slips a little on wet grass and gravel

It's your towcar to ruin the clutch on if you so wish. Get a mover it saves all the hassle of cutting up the grass on narrow pitches etc. And it's unlikely you will bump your van on unforeseen hazards !!!!!

I'm with Gumbo.

Contrary to what Steve L says I'm just back from several weeks in France/Italy and plenty of pitches there it would have been absolutely impossible to get on facing the way you'd like in a towed direction. Maybe ok on UK club sites MOST of the time, but not always. And unless you're Tarzan or have many helpers next to impossible to get a twin ax positioned off towcar. And then levelling up without it - you must be kidding??!!!

It's less about what to get as most seem to work well within reason. Just get one!

We have the Powrtouch on the Wyoming but only two rollers. I couldn't see the point of four which would have meant resiting the spare wheel and some plumbing.

I don't use it for parking or storing but just on certain sites where we want the front facing the sea eg Scourie, Ardmair Point Berwick upon Tweed etc .

I've no regrets, and do believe it's an important piece of kit on a TA.

Cheers

Hi Simon, well you got one hell of a deal there, i can only think that they quoted you the wrong price & then had to honour the deal, as i couldn't even offer you the unit for diy fitting for that price, the rrp on Powrtouches website is
