Hi all, whats the difference between the caravan and camping club and the caravan club? As i've joined the caravan and camping club. I need to know what the differences are because one is slightly cheaper but what discounts do you get etc.

Both clubs offer various discounts, not only on pitch prices but on ferry prices, breakdown cover, insurance etc;
You have decided to join the oldest club, the C&CC and besides the obvious differences such as membership for tent campers as well as caravanners and motorhomers, and there being no advance booking requirement for most DA rallies, the C&CC offer an age related discount for main club site pitch prices for members who are 55 or over plus deals which offer extra nights at no extra cost for selected sites.
Pre booked pitches on main club sites require a deposit to be paid and although it is often said on forums that the Caravan Club has better facilities such as shower and toilet blocks the C&CC is seen as more child friendly.

Assuming you mean the 'Camping & Caravanning Club' and not the 'Caravan & Camping Club' then the differences have been discussed several times on this forum
The main difference is that the Caravan Club doesn't permit tents, other than a small pup tent, and therefore has a larger quantity of hard standing all-weather pitches, eg chipping/gravel, on which you wouldn't want to put a tent.

The CC has far more sites and does not take tents on most sites. On the C&CC sites we have been on the tents and caravans are mostly seperated but the twi areas can overlap. Maintanance on CC sites is higher possibly overdone, the C&CC operate to a lower standard but it is not a problem.
The main difference on arrival is the CC let you choose any available pitch of the type booked where the C&CC take you to an allocated pitch.
If you have a large family the C&CC generally charge less for children and give a discount to over 55s off high season.

We've been members of both clubs for years. Prefer C&CC as their sites are less regimented and still have nice grass areas either to pitch on or between hard standing. Whereas CC are putting in lots more hard standings and some can resemble HGV parking lots. Horses for courses I guess.
We joined both clubs and after trying each, we decided to stay with The Caravan Club and have found all the CC sites we've stayed at to be excellent and the wardens and our fellow caravanners have always been friendly. They allow you to choose your own pitch. We use Caravan Club CL's several times a year, too and return to our favourite ones again and again.
As has been mentioned, the C&CC allow tents on their sites. I'm afraid 'The Friendly One' wasn't so friendly when we phoned to book a night stop at Moffat, to break a long journey to the Highlands and were told they don't do night stops. They're ideally situated for caravanners making the long journey north, but despite being C&CC members at the time, we had to find somewhere else.

Hi I think both clubs have their own good and bad points, we have been members of both clubs for several years however this year we have dropped the caravan club.
Main reasons as we work in the NHS, shifts mean we can only book weekend or short stays at best 3 to 4 weeks in advance. With the cc booking system this does not offer enough availability from any site within a 80 mile radious of where we live, therfore I was paying for a club that I couldnt use.
You do however get additional benefits of discounts off insurance etc but again for the past 3 years running the c&cc services have all quoted cheaper than the caravan club.
As said the cc sites are more regimented but again some people like that, I prefer a bit more opennes and flexibility with having a family.
The only way to make a proper choice for your own needs is to try them for a year and do your own comparisons.

Their wardens increasingly run the club sites to suit their needs and are often unwilling to fulfil the simplest request.
I do not own an awning thus never use one.......this increasingly gets me put on the worst pitch on the site in terms of size and position!
All the good pitches often empty when I arrive, are being saved in case someone turns up on speck and are still empty when I leave.

For me I am saving their £41 membership fee and sticking with the Club whose head office is local to me.
