Well, we normally do our christmas shopping early but this one beats them all.

My son is 12 (13 this year) and my daugther is 11 (12 this year)We always wanted to get them a personalised number plate when they are 17, however two numbers came up that were ideal for both of them and both at a bargain price given how much some numbers can cost...so we have just bought them! Doh, mad or what, but it was know or never as the number only ever exists once, it's has got to be the most strangest and impulsive thing we have done...but I suppose we all do these things from time to time.....just got a very long wait now before they actually get it, who know's if we save hard, maybe it will be attached to a car for them too, that would be nice...hope it's easier to find than my hunt for a new towing car has been!

So what is the strangest present you have bought?

I don't think your mad at all. I want to buy a plate for each of our daughters (9+13), but the wife won't let me! I've already got two, one i bought for our wedding anniversary 3 years ago, and another which i've just paid another 25 pounds to keep on retention for another year as our 2nd car is too old to put it on.

I think they are great, and with the prices rising the way they are, there better than money in the bank,

Gavin.

I bought my wife some gold and silver when we got married in the 70's for when she retires.
Just gold and silver in a Geneva bank.

Things were a little less stable in those days and it was a proven investment if needed or if I popped my clogs.

My godmother was widowed twice and left with very little. Her much elder brother in Austalia took her there as she was quite poor and she had a very nice retirement and set aside part of her inheritance from him for the women in our families old age or widow hood. I had to comply with her conditions on a sound investment for part of what she left me the same as her other favourites.

She maintained that a lady needs some independent money for her old age or being alone.
