Wheel bearings

Today I have got the van up on stands to remove the wheels to get the tyres changed. While I had it dismantled I thought I would pull the drums of to give the breaks a clean and check all was ok.

Question, are the bearings 'greseable'. I know they are fixed ball races and going back to when I was a motor mechanic this type of bearing were sealed but I wondered if anyone knew if it was possible or advisable to put a little extra grease in. The bearings seem fine when they are spun i.e. no noises or roughness.

Thanks in advance

Hi Martyn, If the chassis is an Al-Ko, and the hub nuts are "one shot" they must be replaced with new nuts tourqed to 280 nm,to anwser your question no the sealed for life bearings do not require any additional grease.

Hi Metz

Thanks for that. Yes I have collected two new nuts today I figured they were 'use once units'. Luckily I have a three-quarter drive torque wrench so doing them up is not a problem.
