Wheels

I want to take off my wheels to save my tyres over the winter and put on winter wheels but how does that go with insurance who want a wheel clamp fitted?

If your insurance states wheel clamp to be used when van unoccupied or not in use then you give them an easy get out clause by not using a wheel clamp in the event of your van being stolen.

You could remove your wheels then fit your spare with a wheel clamp, this would allow you to save the "normal" tyres but still meet insurance criteria. Some types of winter wheels have a locking system, check with your insurer to see if they would accept them instead of a wheel clamp.

I prefer to put the spare steel wheel on with another wheel with old tyre so that the van could be moved in an emergency such as a fire

May have to rethink that one as the insurance give hefty discount for the Alko wheel clamp and of course that only fits with alloy wheels

You can be sure that they may not wish to pay out if the clamp is not fitted as specified on the proprsal form

I remove 1 wheel & the spare & put the wheel clamp on the other wheel + put the van on axle stands

If you use Winter Wheels, and your 'van is stolen, how does the Insurance company know it was on Winter Wheels, unless you tell them?
