We're off to our favourite CL near Instow North Devon. Means we can see my mum too.

Our dogs go free and are encouraged to play with the farm Collies. All old mates.

The owner tels us it has been very quiet this month and we are the first to actually book Christmas. Are we all feeling the pinch?

Cheers

We are off to Chatworth over the New Year.

Really looking forward to it, it is our first year with our caravan and cannot wait to be snuggled nice and warm in the van whilst its cold and frosty outside.

We are 45 min away from Chatsworth, while writing this looking out of the window at home sixty mile winds bashing the area, all being well hope new year will be calm. We tend to walk the dogs over the moors around Chatsworth as its not far to travel, so look out for two small Yorkshires dragging their owners along.

We will be booking Chatsworth or Losehill around end of Feb as long has the snow stays away, can't do New Year wife works so the young nurses can be home with their children over the Christmas period.

Sam you did well getting in at Chatsworth as its been booked up all year for the Xmas period, what did you do keep ringing the site.

NGH,

Over the past 3 weeks i have been following Chatsworth's bookings on the website very closely, sometimes 3 times a day, due to the fact that i was arriving on the 17th December until the 30th but wanted to extend my booking beyond New Year.

We use Chatsworth a lot due to the fact we lived 30 minutes away until we retired, and go back to visit family and friends.

For a number of years Chatsworth has been shown as booked up for Christmas and New Year.

However during late October onwards the cancellations start coming in. However especially this year, the vacancies were filled sometimes within a couple of hours. I managed to complete my booking on about the 4th day.

If you rely on ringing the site and the answer phone is on you can miss your chance.

I really wonder just how many people are serious about their Christmas bookings.

We were at Chatsworth for 3 weeks in February in the snow, as usual it was wonderful, and brilliant for photography. My wife got some great photos of the deer in the snow.

I know caravaning in the snow is not everyones cup of tea, but we pray for snow at Chatsworth.

Living on the North West coast of Wales we get snow on the mountains but none worth talking about at ground level--so we go to Chatsworth if it snows!!

Hi Nigel/Hamer

I think it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. We have also booked to go to Chatsworth for the Christmas Fayre/Decorations for the weekend of the 21st/22nd November. Needless to say we booked this at the beginning of the year. I was just on the Chatsworth page on the CC site the other day, just looking at the pictures and seeing how booked the site was for that weekend. When the availability was showing the 31st Dec, I quickly grabbed it and couldn't believe my luck. I think people book the sites just in case they fancy going, and then cancel when they don't. It is a not a very good system, as we have all agreed but you like Hamer said it is worth checking every day.

We're going to Manor Wood Caravan Park near Chester for 11 days over Christmas and New Year. We want to do some touring in North Wales and this is a good base and we have never been to Chester so looking forward to that.

There's a nice quiet site in the center of Eardisland in Herefordshire where so far to our knowledge there are only two caravans occupying the site over christmas and new year.

Very nice black & white village with two pubs having log fires and hot food to serve.

Nearest night club is 5 miles away. Just lovely winter walks and sceenary to soak up here.

Have a look on the site finder at Arrow bank.
