I always travel with out TV in the boot netted down. If it's loose in the 'Van and you brake hard or (God forbid) hit something the telly is suddenly going to weigh a hundredweight or more and you may find it comes out through the front window, in through the rear window and , all of a sudden, your lights will go out.

Take care!

Dont put it under the overhead cupboard where the chrystal cased DVD's are housed . This even applies when you are on site getting things set up.

The Result, See under Equipment Thread on this site. TV Wanted" OUCH!!!!!

Leave it at home. Take a book and a nice bottle of wine, or go fora walk to the local pub;-)

Hi Ian

I agree with Emmo and Willo. We leave ours at home. We are not totally anti TV...we used it to watch a DVD in early Jan before our youngest went back to Uni...but the idea of going somewhere really nice and locking ourselves in the van to watch TV seems quite alien. This is just my opinion however and I'm not expecting everyone to agree.

Happy caravanning

Denise

I HAVE to take the box. With Emmerdale and Corrie seemingly 24/7 it's the only chance I get of a real ale in the awning without getting moaned at !!!

Thanks for all the replies ! ! !

I think from now on we will put it face down on the bed with a duvet around it.

Bigfoot, you do the same as me, at 7:00 I always go and sit in the awning with a glass of wine and the PC magazine. I wonder how many others do the same ?

Many Thanks

Ian

In our Ace Jubilee Statesman and then the Oklahoma I replaced the plastic turntable with a sturdy metal one fron B & Q and bolted the Tv to it and screwed it down to the shelf

It stayed there all season ready wired up

I cut wooden pieces to fit round the base for travelling and it was OK even going to Spain and travelling over the rough roads in Belgium

I run it off 12 V but the habitation relay cuts the power on tow

Now in the Nightstar we have an LCD TV on a clamp on arm at one end of the van and this can turn the TV aqainst the van side where its secured for towing and at the bed end I have an LCD TV bolted to the reinforced shelf and bracketed to the wall with cavity fixings.

I set up the Sky box at home and that travels on its shelf on velcro ready to use on site

Well with no show befor noon on many sites it passes the "waiting" time before setting off !!

I was in a caravan place yesterday and they now sell special padded bags to carry different size TV's.
