We always took along a directional aerial to use instead of the roof mounted omnistat aerial (it's pretty duff except in strong signal locations - which caravan sites tend not to be in)

you will probably find the mast more expensive than the aerial.

We used a cheap

Before you go lashing out mega bucks on a fancy 'caravan' aerial or a 'digital' model have a look at P.A.R.A.S.

There are some myths surrounding tv aerials, before we bought a caravan fitted with a Status 530 I used a normal tv aerial which cost about £9 from Wilkinsons fastened with jubilee clips to some lengths of old steel awning pole clamped to the jockey wheel.

We had an ordinary outside aerial on a pole that I fastened to the A frame every time we arrived on a site. However it became a bit of a faf so we took the plunge and bought a Status 530. It is a bit costly but the convenience of simply plugging the cable into the back of the tv and adjusting the aerial from inside the caravan is worth the initial outlay, especially when it is bucketing down with with rain.

I fitted a staus 530 directional aerial to our caravan a couple of years ago. We often get a better analogue picture with it than we do at home. In June we stayed on a CS in the lakes. Couldn't get a picture at all. The guy next door remminded us that Cumbria has already switched over. We went in to Penrith and bought a freeview digibox that is about the size of a matchbox from Aldi. Plugged it in and away we went. Its brilliant, much better than the freesat system we have at home. Since June we have been using it all over the place and it works fine with the Status 530 directional aerial.

Tend to use cc sites where you can just plug your aerial lead into the tv sockets provided within the electrical supply modules.
On the sites that do not have this facility i use my Vision Plus aerial, mounted on poles fitted to my jockey wheel via a clamp.
All the sites that i have visited have digitial reception, the Vision Plus aerial giving a very clear digitial picture just waiting for freeview to go Hd.
