Which awning?

Hi all,

I'm newish to caravaning and have recently changed caravan thus requiring a new awning. Does anyone have any recommendations? I will need the new awning to take a bedroom annexe - it needs to fit a 1010cm rail - and be suitable for a family. With my previous van I had an isabella awning (that came with it) and I had no problems with it. However, a new one for my new caravan is a bit over budget.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Angela

Hello Angela,

Wander home and other caravan retailers sell pretty nice second hand ones, or try putting a wanted add in your local ad trader stating the size etc. it worked for us!! Good luck.

Angela,

I too have have bought a new van for which we needed a new awning! Previously we alway used Dorema, proved excellent value for money and very durable. However we have now invested in a Bradcott awning and can't believe the difference - British made, heat reflective roof, light weight alloy frame (@ extra cost), 10 year colour guarantee on side panels, you can actually zip the panels down to half way (varender effect they call it), could'nt do this with Dorema, its got fly screens to the sides. We bought the Active model, which does miss out on front centre panel, the Classic has it though. follow thes links for more, www.bradcot-awnings.co.uk and I can fully recommend, Awning Land, www.awningland.com who are apart of Glossop Caravans, they discounted a new ground sheet for us and threw in a verander pole, good prices too. Sounds like I'm on commission he he

Angela, I think Isabella are still the best awnings and you can often pick them up on adtrader or ebay for very reasonable prices. I recently sold my 10 year old Isabella awning for

Isabella every time, I have had Doremma ( returned after one outing) and Trio ( very good ). To be honest you can find bargain second hand ones in the Caravan Club magazine ads.People (like me) don't use their awnings on every trip so consequently the awning is often like new when the van is traded in and doesn't fit the new model.

Bide your time and wait for the right one to come up for sale!

Hi Angela

We are fans of Ventura awnings, they are part of Isabella, frames are IXL and they cost less than Isabella, we bought our current one off ebay, unused, and paid less than 1/3of new price, on ebay at the moment there are 8 Venturas and 30 odd Isabellas, also Davan Caravans of Weston Super Mare are advertising an awning clearance sale, you will save money if you buy a new awning but last years model, hope this helps
