My caravan doesnt have a battery or a standard battery box fitted-its a T@B.
I want to have a mover installed as although light its becoming too hard to push. The battery will be used just to drive the mover. The battery will be housed inside the caravan in a box along with mover electrics.
My question is what sort of battery do I need? Do I need a special type because is inside the van? I was looking at a Numax 110ah unit
Can someone pleae advise me?
Sorry may have asked same question before but cannot find topic

Its way down under the "Technical"listing:

If the battery is going to live in the van's habitation space then yes on safety grounds you ought to use a "special" battery, one that normally cant gas off. These are VRLA types and dont come cheap.
Various batteries are branded "Numax" so you need to be specific of what "flavor" of Numax you are talking about.
I gave you a solution that would suit use just with a mover at home, a portable battery. For portability you need something much less that a 110Ah capacity unit. As it remains on charge at home it does not need to be a high capacity battery.

Many thanks I thought I had asked the question before! I went to look at a leisure battery today at a caravan dealers. They told me that they can supply a venting kit so gasses can be vented outside the caravan. It's a pipe that connects into the battery's vent hole. They also maintain that motor homes very often have a battery sited under a front seat in a box with no venting. What do you think?

The piped venting of a "flooded" lead acid battery would not be acceptable to me nor is it adopted in UK NCC compliant caravans.
My German caravans have both featured VRLA batteries, in both cases GEL technology ones.

IMO a caravan dealer is not the place to buy a battery from, they are not specialist in this product and probably offer very poor value deals.
I would be dealing with specialists in this field like:

I'd echo that - batteries at caravan dealers have often sat for months unsold without any recharging at 3-monthly intervals - just the way to wreck a good battery.

Many thanks.
I have decided to go for external battery which I can mount using a bracket on the drawbar placing it there only when I need to use the mover. It won't be placed there when travelling and it will be housed in a secure box and linked to a charger whist on site.
The other option was to lift it out of the caravan during habitation and replace for moving. The installers of the mover don't like idea of this but what option do I have!
