Richard

If you read the thread beneath this one I doubt you would have asked your rhetorical question.

I have been very happy with my CC membership having originally joined in 1978.

Cheers

Hi Richard - I am in both clubs, If you use your van out of season and are over the age of 55 then the C&CC give a discount which can be worth having. As you have probably seen on other threads I am fairly critical about pitch allocation because I think the CC is a better system. But I must also say that is my only real complaint. Both clubs have got some great sites in some great areas. When you book with the CC you pay no deposit, with the C&CC you pay

We were in both clubs but soon realised the vast difference between them! Dropped C&CC like a hot stone. Will never consider membership with C&CC again.

our friends booked a holiday to france with the c&cc who then demanded more money AFTER they had paid in full due to the pound/euro exchange rate. They wouldn't have offered them a refund if it had gone the other way so my membership of this club will not be renewed when it expires!

CC club seems to be more popular and satisfactory so I'll be giving them a try.

We're coming up to one full year of caravanning now (Yes!! a year already!!) and our new membership cards for the C&CC arrived in the post the other day. (Direct Debit not due yet though)

We've only been to 2 C&CC sites, one of them twice and which we'll probably never use again and the other of them 3 times, out of the 15 times we've been away so far since we started caravanning. The one we've been to 3 times is near my wife's folks and I reckon they'll let us pitch there C&CC member or not.

I've heard or read about a lot of problems on C&CC sites but they are usually camp sites and not their CS 5 van sites. That said, looking at the jollyinteresting website map, it's very clear that there's far less C&CC sites where we're likely to go than CC sites. And the C&CC sites are more expensive than CC sites.

Yeah, we're thinking of cancelling.

Legsmaniac has made a rather general statement about the relative costs between the two clubs but they have a different charging structure and so it depends on individual circumstances.

I have compared the two sites both at Sandringham for 2 people for one night in high season and for my own situation the Caravan Club costs more

Hi Scorpio

We had several visits to C&CC with our trailer tent but now we have a caravan the CC site is on our list of places to go - is their site really 10 times better??

We joined the C & CC then found out that they didn't have many CS sites in the vicinity where we like to go. Also reading on this forum about their treatment of an elderly couple on a site, plus other silly rules, we sent the membership cards back along with the pack.

No problem with the CC.

Tried C&CC for a year but that was enough. Didn't like the way you were told where to park. At one site we were placed right behind the toilet block and that was after we were booked in for a week. The chemical toilet emptying facilities leave a lot to be desired. Even the roads are not tarmacced. To me there is just no comparrison between the two clubs. C&CC Club "Your friendly Club" Pull the other one. Ken

HI Kenneth -you obviosly also dislike the C&CC pitch allowcation system.I myself think it is the worst part of the club and we are not on our own.

I have no experience of the C&CC club, I was thinking of joining but after reading the various posts, not any more. We have been members of the CC for eight years and never once had a problem. We used to also be in the CC volunteering scheme and we were looked after very well indeed. When you turn up at a CC site you can pretty much be certain of a clean well maintained site with friendly helpful wardens (most of the time anyway). They have more sites, more hardstandings which we prefer and more CL's. We also use the CC caravan insurance and mayday breakdown. Everything seems to be done very efficiently.

For what its worth Caravan Club everytime.

as a member of both CC & CC&C I MUCH PREFER THE CC&C the only fault being pitch allocation by the wardens, which if the pitch is not to your liking is usualy changed.I prefer the system of a deposit on booking as it prevents pre booking of many sites, a ploy used by CC members who then do not turn up because they do not have to put a deposit down . The CC&C all so have "Family"prices & discounts for those over 50.I also like the tempory holiday sites oganised By CC&C usually costing

Regarding Mike from Derby comment about pitch prices there might be a slight difference in price but theres a vast difference in quality.

In the 12 months we were members of the C&CC we visited 6 sites and none of the hardstanding pitches were comparable to the CC pitches. Neither were some of their facilities like water/waste emptying points, many of the sites having a tired look to them. One such site, although in a beautiful spot, was Rosemarkie where the grey water was emptied into a sunken concreted area then you used the same place to stand your AquaRoll to fill up with drinking water. Not the most hygenic method.

Friendliest weekend meets and temporary holiday sites? - CCC, hands down.. The CC are OK - if you like military precision and more rules than you can shake a stick at.

Best CL's? - CC, more of them, and in nicer places.

Can't really comment on the official club sites for either organisation - they both seem to employ only ogres and ogresses who become power mad and like to exercise their authority whenever a club member hoves into view.

Its the CC for us as well, it does not matter where you go in the country if your booked on a CC site you know before you get there what the facilities will be like. We were once members of the C&CC but dropped our membership after a year.
