85 amp one will do.the 110 amp will proberly be far to big for the compartment not to say very heavy,i got a 85 amp one with a four year warrency,no need for halfords or the caravan dealer you pay there price,Go to a wilco or motormart,,
A lot depends on what you do with your van,
Do you have a mover fitted ? if not !
Will you be thinking of having one fitted in the next couple of years, if so you will be better going for a 110amp battery now & being prepared.
I have a 85amp gel battery which weighs more than a my normal sealed 110amp lead acid battery, if you measure your old battery & take a look at the link which i have put on earlier, it gives you the dimensions of the battery's.
Cheap is not always best in the world of battery's.....

I've spent some time checking out websites for various makes and we think we are going for the Elecsol 110 carbon fibre one which has a 5-year guarantee. They are expensive, but the write-ups and various reviews on it are good.

Before you commit to an Elecsol battery I would advise you to have a search on the internet for info regarding the quality of the battery and the validity of the 5 year warranty. There is also information and opinion on their customer service.

Further to that though is the fact that most , if not all, leisure battery suppliers will NOT warrant a caravan battery as it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, and usually suffers problems from being left discharged for too long, causing sulphation of the plates.
They will tell ypu at point of sale it is covered, but when problems happen they will very quickly show you the small print letting them off the hook.

I had a 100amp Numax sealed battery fitted during my recent service.This looks to be a sensible option as it is smaller than the 110 amp and fits the battery box fine. Cost was

charging a leisure battery with a car charger can damage the leisure battery,as the charge is more intense should we say.more technically minded people will tell you more,a specific leisure battery charger should be used.you can charge a leisure battery with a car charger,but it is not recommended for this to be done on a regular basis,more for a quick boost.as far as i know,its the plates that warp and damage.

Thanks for that, Klarky. I would imagine there are a lot of folk charging leisure batteries with a car charger, myself included.
After reading all the fors and againsts, we decided to go for the Elecsol 110 carbon fibre leisure battery and the Elecsol leisure battery charger.
