Powrtouch.

5 year no quibble guarantee - at 4 years I had two new motor units, new electronic control box and new control handset. They also fit on your drive/site, no return to fitting dealer for problems. Their 'soft start' has now been copied but it is very good for "inching" the 'van in tight spots. Highly rcommended.

Hi,

we hada Reich Move Control fitted at home by R&L Draper (see Google). Very pleased with it. It sits in front of the wheel so that I can retain the spare wheel and Alko jack points. No problems with speed humps, ferry ramps or CL fields. It can fit behind the wheel.

Cheers

Jayne,

I can also recommend the Powrtouch mover. Bought ours last year and fitted it myself in a couple of hours.

We have the standard version and it moves our van up quite a steep drive without any problem at all.

Powrtouch - mine is now on its third van. Slight problem solved with immediate (and free) response. Just make sure you get the right one for the van, for anything heavier than 1200kg I'd go for the heavy duty version, which will give you a bit of reserve if you have to pitch on a slope, or loose gravel.

I agree with the Powrtouch recommendations. Mine is now fitted to it's second twin axle c'van and makes light work of moving the unit, although.....sometimes it puts a strain on the button pressing thumb (joke)

Go for the PowrTouch if reading past reviews in this forum is anything to go by. I have a Truma and it will be the last one. They must be the only company that closes its factory for stock taking in the middle of the holiday season. If you need any replacement parts during this time - tough.

We have the Reich Move Control fitted to our van, and the quality of these German built units are every bit as good as the BMW & Mercedes cars that Germany produce, Top Quality & Reliability, as with all German built goods.

Had a powertouch model 4 fitted to our twin axle Bessacarr.

Only had it two months but no problems moving the unit, even though it is a heavy unit, it moves it up our steep side street with cobble stones.

Jayne,

Perhaps not surprisingly everyone so far has recommended what they bought, but I doubt if anyone has tried out the three or four popular makes on the same van - something useful that the UK caravan clubs should do?

Well, the German ADAC (like the UK AA and Caravan Club in one organisation) did exactly that test and published it on their web-site (in German of course)

The summary was that Truma rated first, closely followed by Reich, then the others a bit or further behind.

To read the full report you need to be a member of ADAC, maybe that's something the UK caravan clubs could do - recently ADAC have reviewed and ranked caravan tyres and stabilisers. I think most of us would like to know which caravan tyre offers the best value, performance and safety - so why don't the UK clubs arrange to buy the article and publish it?

we have a powrtouch and it has been faultless for 5 years however i recently refitted it to a new van and was surprised how much corrosion ther`d been (it had been used on wet salty roads).. i had to completely scrape it, treat it and re-paint....these things are advertised as powder coated but if i was fitting one from scratch again i would definitely apply a coat of finnegans smoothright to it
