We always enjoy reading Honest John's column in the Telegraph Motoring section, because he gives very sound and informative advice. Every council in the country should read what he has to say about speed humps and the damage they do to vehicles.
Totally agree about what you say about the enjoyment in studying a good map and guide book, which we do all the time, (the passenger is the SatNav in our car - sat with the map!) We bought this one for our relative to help him get to places he has to visit in his new job.
