i have 2 children 11 & 13 years old,i need a site thats easy to get too, entertainment at night times, swimming pool, flat pitches with plenty of space, clean and tidy shower blocks.

not bothered about noise or drunks, coz i`d probally be one of them :)

i`ve looked on the web and checked out, lady`s mile (of which is favourite at the moment),crofton house and some of the haven sites in the area.

any feedback appreciated

Hi, we went to lady's mile a couple of years ago, mostly flat site, they do pack you in a bit, especially in main hols! Lovely pools inside and out and entertainment, Dawlish is a lovely area and beach in walking distance plus a market, pubs within walkin distance too, Toilets nice and clean, I would go again.

Hope that helps.

Hi Mick - there are two sites which spring to mind and can be very highly recommended. The first being Beverley Park at Goodrington just outside Paignton. The site has everything on offer to meet your requirements, even if it is raining. There are outdoor/indoor swimming pools, games rooms, restaurants, cafeterias, large club house with beautiful bar and dance floor, children's entertainment all through the day/evening, etc. There is no need to go off the site for enjoyment. The only down side is it can be expensive.

The other site is Widend at Marldon near Paignton. This is a smaller more family orientated site with an outdoor heated pool, clubhouse, shop and takeaway. There is also a playground for children and a small games room. The toilet/shower facilities are outstanding. There is not the same level of entertainment at this site although there is generally a cabaret in the evening. The good thing about this site is that it is approx. half the price per night as Beverley Park and more family run. This is the site my wife and I return to year after year - so far eight years on the trot.

Both sites are approx.5-10 minutes by car out of Paignton, however there are regular bus services passing both sites into town.

No matter where you end up staying I hope you and the family enjoy your stay and good luck.

Hi, we visited a lovely site this August called Stowford Farm Meadows. it was our first time in Devon, but I would reccomend it to anyone. We have 3 kids ages 10, 12 & 14. It is a massive site, but laid out really well with 7 or so fields all seperated by neat hedgerows. Some hard standing available, but mostly grass. On site there is a big shop, which sells everything, a take away fish & chip shop, a pub, restaurant, 2 bars with bingo, kids disco etc throughout the week, a mini petorama which the kids loved. There is a small swimming pool, which you have to pay

Just another thought. If you are a CC club member, check if any rallies are being held on these sites. It is much cheaper and you get a bigger pitch.

You will find the Widend site at Marldon, Devon are very strict and will ask you to leave the site immediately if there is any noise from adults or children causing annoyance to other campers. It's a super site if you are prepared to follow the rules to the letter. We have a season pitch there, so have seen this happen on numerous occasions

Anne - my wife and I have visited this site for many years - not a seasoned pitch holder, and on only one occassion to our knowledge has a pitch been refused. the caravanner had a seasoned pitch but would allow their dog to roam free and foul the site and refusing to clean up after it. They were also caught selling goods from the van. Going around the site offering food goods for sale at discounted prices. Their renewal was refused and they were asked to find another site at the start of the new season. We have always found Julie, Her husband and all the site workers very friendly and very helpful. We have never experienced any problems with rowdy behaviour at all. In conclusion I would go so far as to say it is one of the best sites we have ever been to in over 30 years of caravanning.

At present Widend does not have a web site - they are going to have one developed this year. The telephone number for the site is (01803)550116 and speak to Julie. She is the joint owner with her husband and is very helpful.

Forgot to mention the brochure does not do the site justice - it is a very nice family run site with spotless wc/shower facilities, shop, club house, outdoor heated swimming pool, part time take away and small games room for children as well as outdoor play equipment.
