Which towing mirror, convex or flat?

I have decided to buy a pair of Milenco Aero Mirrors as they seem to get good reviews, but do I go for flat glass or convex? What are the advantages / disadvantages?

I've always used flat and am quite happy with them

Flat mirrors wil give you a true rear vision, whereas convex will make things look further away than they really are.

Convex mirrors increase your field of view, but they do have the disadvantage of making objects seem further away than they really are, as Damian says. Therefore, I think it is a good compromise to use convex only on the passenger side where the mirror is far away and one can consequently do with a bigger field of view.
