Which wheel clamp?

I have just purchased a new caravan and had a mover fitted to it but the wheel clamp I had from my previous van will not fit the new van because of the mover.

The wheel clamp that I have is a Milenco one and although slightly battered and bruised it still did the job.

The mover is a Reich mover but even with the motor as far back as it will go I can't get the wheel clamp on.

The van has steel wheels with wheel trims on it so I can't use one of the clamps that go through the wheel.

I liked the Milenco clamp because it gets good reviews (I know nothing is going to stop anyone who really wants your van) but I am looking for a decent deterrent for a reasonable price.

Thanks in advance

We've got one of those Al-Ko already-fitted-to-the-wheel jobs. It came with the van. Supposed to be very secure but you have to stop the wheel in exactly the right place to get the darn thing on. My guess is it doesnt work while still in the bag!

We had to buy a new wheel clamp for the same reason and ended up with a Bulldog Q. A word of warning - under certain weather conditions rain water finds its way into the lower arms at ground level which then drained out onto the carpet. We now store the clamp parts whilst on the move in the robust carriers from Lakeland - though super market bags for life would fit the bill as well.

Hi

We've got an Alko lock.

It's true, you do have to line the wheel up - and it needs to be spot on or the lock won't go on correctly.

However, with a motor-mover it's a piece of cake. I wouldn't want to put one on without the mover (unless you had one of those 'van levellers that lifts the wheel up off the floor).

As with all things caravanning, there's always a compromise.

dougy I had a powertouch mover on my van & had no problem with the mllenco However consider the NEMISIS @ around

Hi,

We have a Powrtouch mover fitted to our van and use a Nemesis Wheel Clamp which is rated Gold Sold Secure. No problems getting it on or off.

Shop around and you will get one for around
