white plug

The feed to the fridge and the battery charging feed should be direct from the car battery via fuses and relays

hi guys

the wire from the white plug (the 7core one)is wired up as follows :-

white to earth

black to earth

red to relay

yellow to relay

green to relay

blue to reversing light

brown is not connected and taped up

the relay is a log thin one which has a 20amp fuse on the feed side

there is only one feed wire a red one from the relay that goes to the front of the car which is not connected to anything (so no power)

where do I connect this wire to there is no accsess to the engine bay as I can see

so I assume it goes on to the igntion circuit permenant live somewhere but according to the wiring diagram in the manual all the ignition wires go to the emu and are all thick 60amp wires

so my question is where does it connect to I figure it must be a perminant live wire as i belive the yellow one feeds the vans 12v circuit direct and the red one to the charging circuit and the green one is for the fridge

by the way the cars a 1.9 diesel megan
 
Colin you've got some colours wrong

Pin 1 yellow--reverse light

Pin 2 blue----spare

Pin 3 white---earth

Pin 4 green---power feed/auxillary charging

Pin 5 brown---spare

Pin 6 red-----fridge

Pin 7 black---earth to fridge

sorry you are right I must have wrote it down wrong iv'e been out to look

yellow to revesrsing light

red green and blue to relay

white and black to earth

brown not used

I dont think theres anything wrong with the wiring to the relay

it's the red feed i'm worried about
 
Connect it to the battery positive via an in-line 20 amp fuse.

It would seem that someone couldn't be bothered to find a route into the engine bay.
 
It sounds like this may be a smart relay. That is one which switches on and off automatically with the change in voltage as the engine is turned on and off. Wire the red wire to the battery +ve and check the relay output with a voltmeter or test lamp, it should be zero. Then start the car and test for voltage again. If it works make sure it shuts down again when the engine is stopped.

What "ABOVE" are you suggesting is not to be followed?

What is meant by:

Green to live.

Brown to earth.

Blew to bits, or should this read " blown to pieces"?

I believe it's what is known as a joke, a pun, a play on words.

Green to live,

Brown to earth

Blew (or blue) to bits.

Sheesh, some people.

The wire you are talking about needs to be connected directly to battery positive via an inline 20 amp fuse. It can be tricky on most cars to find a way through from under the bonnet into the car.

It took me 3 hours to do mine, I had to remove the heater unit and pollen filter just to be able to access the rear of the only grommet on the bulkhead.

At a push you can connect it to the main feed to the fusebox but this is only viable when the fusebox is inside the car.

I will have a go at it tomorrow

its already got a 20amp inline fuse attached to the wire near the relay

but I will move it closer to the battery so the feed wire is protected as it runs along the sill but it looks awfully thin to me to carry all that current sorry I dont know what gauge it is as I did not fit it
 
just an update

I connected the feed wire which is 27amp rated to the main ign feed wire from the battery as there is absolutly no way of getting a wire through to the engine bay without stripping out the dash board Ive put a 20amp fuse right next to the join to protect the wire as it goes back to the boot tested it hooked up to the van and every thing works fine and by the way it is a smart relay you can hear it click when the engine stops

Colin,glad that you have it sorted.

We had Scenic a few years ago and for once had it wired by the dealer rather than DIY.

They ran all the wiring underneath the car from the engine compartment to the rear with nylon ties being used to tie to existing pipes etc.

Ok if you have lift handy
