the warden was worse moaning about kids riding their bike the wrong way and dogs having a wee on the grass, if you get there before 12am you will be turn away be warn!! Trevor

So in other words the warden moaned at everybody who was breaking the rules, so what's wrong with that, surely they are there to make sure the rules are obeyed.

Yes, we've had this too.

Children screaming round on bikes, and their parents not seeing anything wrong with it.

But last year we saw a child crash off his bike, quite spectacularly into a brand new Honda CRV. So you parents who think it doesn't matter......IT DOES help to have wardens around, because, thanks to the sites CCTV, proof was available to the vehicles owner and the site owner, despite the fact that both the spineless parents and the child denied responsibility.

Thanks all for your comments and the scorning from NGH,keith and wendy.I assume your all wardens,if not I would take my head out from that dark place youve put it!!!

THIS is YOUR comment Dave.

It's not really worth a response, as it is rude and disrespectful, and sums you up quite well, but I have sent you one anyway, as above. And now, as far as I am concerned, the matter is closed.

I have to say I'm not surprised that some wardens can be a bit grumpy. I deal with the public all day and I know what complete pillocks some people can be! I will say that the wardens at Baltic Wharf last W/E were brilliant.

The warden on our site put his foot in it again today. A van turned up and the woman decided to walk her dog an it's lead. However another dog came over off it's lead. Camp comandant was mowing and saw woman & two dogs, then spotted one minus lead. In he jumped with both feet shouting at the woman. She replied "it's not even my dog". With no audable appology ensuing he then proceeded to take said dog back to the owners whom he is trying to befriend. Not even a murmer!!

Key point there, get brain into gear before letting mouth take charge!!

I wonder why the site is only half full compared to last year?

Of coarse the owner is not at hand to see what goes on. I would love him to spend a week here with friends remaining un noticed to see just what does go on.

Seems that their are a lot of anti wardens out their,

Question is why do these sad people keep going to sites, is it only to moan, .

If these anti warden people were to read the cc site rules, they would see that It is the responsobility of the Parents not the Wardens to ensure that their children cycle the correct way round the roads.

As for dogs weeing on the grass, For gods sakes what are the dog walks for.

No Royston, it's not moaning for moanings sake if you have a forest grump of a warden on a site hwere you have previously had an enloyable time.

We have had good times at our site until July last year when the management changed. We all abide by the general common sense rules of walk the dog on the lead and clean up behind, only one car per pitch, keep the area around the van tidy but that isn't good enough for forest grump, our warden.

I brought my sailing dinghy to our van yesterday (only 11ft long)to set up a new sail for deck fittings etc. I promptly parked the car in the comunial carpark as I counted the dinghy on it's trailer as the solatry vehicle allowed at our pitch. It took less than an hour for forest to pop over with a you can't leave that their.

So I can't persue what is a holiday related hobby but they can ride mountain bikes full tilt on the site roads but children accompanied by adults can't, people are not allowed to have plants bought from the garden centre outside so that they don't wilt. But forest can have his dog outside in a kennel and run 24/7.

What more can I say, a blatent case of don't do as I do, do as I say.

In 28 years of caravanning, I've never come across this before. 99.9% of wardens are very good because they have caravanned themselves and instinctively know when to step in and when to be the tough guy. It is those who have not tried the hobby that haven't got a "scooby doo" what to do.

As for staying at the site, we haven't got one near by that is better suited and why should we move if we were acceptable to the previous staff.

Spent the 4 nights over last weekend at Rowntree Park, wardens and assistants very helpful and and cheery thursday and friday ,on saturday we got a call from friends saying they would come and see us for a couple of hours , an hour later I got another call from my friends saying they were at reception and the warden would not let them in , I attended and was told in no uncertain terms that I was not to invite friends (there was only 2 of them) without notifying the wardens first,Are they called WARDENS because they some time act in the same manor as prison wardens , as my friends said it would have been easier to arrange a visit if we were in prison!!!!

By the way between myself and my friends we have a total of 53yrs of CC membership

Hi Baza

I suspect some of this negativity as we perceive it emanates from the over zealous health and safety; and insurance companies risk managers. In an effort to make our lives safer perhaps some of their demands on the wardens work against us all.

Until recently the Clumber Park thefts were a nightmare for the poor wardens and of course we all know what happened at Rowntree Park a few years ago.

That said, your friends were decent enough to "book" in at reception themselves although the wardens wouldn't know that they had "cased" your caravan perhaps??

What a world we live in.

Cheers

The only wardens hat we have found to be obnoxious jobworths are those working on the C & CC sites that we have visited, with the exception of one site, which is why we are no longer members of the unfriendly club. We have never had an issue on a CC site or any commercial site.

Was that an early release for good behavior :)m8?

Tickles me pink that comment in HMP sector, cos if you weren't naughty in the first place you wouldn't be there.

The Forrest Grump on our site tried to dist the welsh flag, little does he know he is stood in 14th century wales anyway in herefordshire and my other half is of welsh decent.

I must say this is the first time in 28 years of caravanning that I've met a Forrest Grump.

We had one site owner who was fantastic, when all 6 vans of us turned up at his Gower peninsular site, he gave us a hand to set the vans up in a cowboy circle and we had a great time. He was so amused to see how a traditional family had fun. It was the first time that my father-in-law had left the house (except for doctors visits) in 20+ years due to agrophobia. (fear of open spaces, hence the circle idea). That bit of flexability led to 15 years of holidays spanning from Lands end to Ardmir point in the Highlands.

We have met some super site operatives in our time. But as with anything it only takes one to spoil the crop.

It doesn't matter which type of site it is the basic principle stays the same, keeping folks happy so that they spread the right word.

But of coarse we are not allowed to name the people/parks that fall below a standard of expectation.

Re the Rowntree incident i have no problem with visitors being expected to make themselves known to the site wardens and then being asked to wait untill we are collected by the campers. After all its your very exopensive van they are protecting.

I went to visit some friends at Chatsworth CC site and were asked who we had come to see and what pitch they were on. They also asked if we were CC memebers and wanted to see out membership card.. I certainly did NOT have any issue with that.

But there is a way to approach people and perhaps some of the wardens need some polite lessons in communication skills.

They certainly do need "train the trainer" lessons.

My old boss used to hate the fact that whatever shift he put me to supervise we got the best production efficiencey and first time right results. He said I was too soft on them, but I told him infront of my MD, that saying please, thankyou, can you do me a favor, and well done, cost nothing but it put's smiles on faces and those same faces are willing helpers and not adversaries. Another thing I did was all the CMM first off's and learnt to become a tig welder inspector to BMW standard for the mini bumper line. It gave the lads the edge to get best production targets achieved and also let them know I would role up my sleeves and pitch in.
