Over the last few years ,Have note that O.A.P are getting very rude [not all of them] At home and on hoilday and else where!Where we live we are in our mid 50! we all way say good morning ect, But one day I was getting the van out of the back garden ready for our hoilday, She came over and said Stop doing that I got a Doctor appoiment and need to get my car out of the garage,She never said could you please or would you mind, and gave me a right mouth full, Other time I said what a lovely day it is, She reply hav'n got time to speak to you too busy!!! You think someone that live on her own would be gratefull that some one is talking to her, But I had the last laugh yesterday she had a new garage door fitted, When they finish she tried to open the garage door so I was taking the dog out for a walk she was still there trying to get it open when we came back, it took her 1/2 hour to work it out, then she said could you help, Sorry I am too busy, Are they like that round your way? Yes Trevor I am afraid they are.

When shopping I find that if one of them is behind me in the queue for the checkout they often try to push you forward.

No reason for this as the limiting factor is how fast the person on the checkout is. It matters not a jot how fast I move down the queue space.

Once some years ago in the days of cheques, I boiled over when this little old lady followed me down the aisle

(sorry my brain shut down for a bit when I realised what I had said)

...followed me down the CHECKOUT aisle and took up position at the end of the checkout while I packed the shopping into the trolley. But I then had to pay and the place to write your cheque was a clear plastic table thing in front of the cashier and this dear little old lady was now between me and where I wanted to write my cheque.

So I just stopped what I was doing and stood there. And she refused to look at me. In the end the cashier said that she was in the way and would she mind moving back as she was getting in the way.

Well! - you have never seen a face like it!

Talk about having a face like a smacked arse!!

With very bad grace she moved back to where her shopping was on the belt whilst I took my time writing the cheque. I then said to the cashier (a middle aged lady) that youngsters today get all the bad press but in my view the elderly are far ruder.

They shouldn't be allowed in post offices, banks or supermarkets between the hours of 12:00hrs - 14:00 hrs when working people are on their lunch breaks.

There should be signs on doors 'OLD PEOPLE NOT WELCOME HERE'.

Lisa

It was a joke before anyone hires a hit man for me.

Oh dear... I had better keep Don in the house in future if the likes of him are causing such problems out there in the real world !!

I will also have to practice some extra good manners for this time next year when the bus pass arrives !!!!

Interestingly or not, probably the latter,I drive a bus for a living. Only job you can get when you hit 50. Probably half of the OAP's who get on the buses with free passes treat the drivers as if they were sh**. They moan about all and sundry. The other 50% are excellent. In reality they are just a reflection of the rest of society but do not seem grateful to have swopped slavery for leisure.

I wonder whether the free passes for all OAP's, all over the UK from next April is really a cunning plan to get them all off the road and cut down on congestion and leave it for the boy racers.?

Hi Alex

The bus pass was a joke and only to indicate my actual age !!

It will be no good around here as I do not think we have any buses from the village.....

But if we get on your bus I promise we will be full of the joys of spring - even in winter - and not moan about anything.

And why do they always meet in the shop doorway then stop to chat for half an hour and never acknowledge that dozens of other shoppers are trying to get in or out of the shop.

hey, i'm retired myself and they wind me up.

As a wrinkly myself i do'nt know what planet you people are on.Buses, nearly all oap and youngsters say morning and thankyou to the driver either getting on the bus or off it.Yes there are those old people who think they can cross the road without looking or just going up to the front of the queue but they are in the complete minority.Perhaps its the area i live in as its so untrue to what has been said about oap.

Why do us old people queue outside the Post Office first thing in the morning in the pouring rain. When you could go at any time in the day.

I still always open doors for young and old, cant remember ever having any problems. I would'nt stop because of one rude person.

We all have to get old one day!

Why do old women stand in a Q behind several people and when it comes time to pay they start rooting for their purse. Surely they knew they had to pay when then were at the back. And then the sorting for the right ammount in 1s 2s and so on.J.Lo

Hi Frank

Are two required as it is one each or are you going to put one on top of the other to get higher than the others on their boxes!!

As a sideline here on the forum, I think I would do quite well judging by the comments about open blinds in new caravans.

There should be a lot of takes from that postings.........That`s one topic i`m staying clear of!

From an O.A.P. possibly a.k.a Victor - having read your comments etc, I can understand the frystratio of both sides. There is no doubt that the dithering of some of us causes irritation to others. It does seem that ladies, not of any particular age, are unable to think in advance, such as, BEFORE I complete loading everything into bags, perhaps I should have my card, etc READY to mke payment EFFICIENTALLY to save other people waiting - we all know whom I speak of, don't we ?

Consideration on ALL sides is required. It is NOT just OLD people who dither or are incondierate. YOU too, may be just that. THINK ON - some day you too might reach old age, presuming that you are not Obese, lazy.......ZZZZZZZZZ

No need to say more I think........must get back to my zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Colin I will agree with you regarding the saying you quoted. I am not quite in the catergory of OAP but not far off it, also I have never been to war or even a member of the armed forces. However no matter what age I am of the opinion that manners and respect is something that all generations should have and demonstrate. How many people can now hand on heart say they follow the old saying "MANNERS MAKETH MAN"? Manners and respect should come naturally to us all.

Just a thought. So many O.A.P.s seem to be rude or is it just old LOOKING O.A.P.s that are grumpy and rude ? So many pensioners nowadays don't look much over 50 and are cheerful, happy and polite. Is it age or attitude that determines a persons approach to others ?

I think I may have the solution to rude oaps.

When young people misbehave these days we are not allowed to touch them.Oaps will tell you that when they were young a good clip round the earole was what they needed.

Now considering that's how they were brought up,that's what they are used to.

So next time an oap is rude give them a good clip round the earole.

only joking

The answer is simple. The OAP's that are filtering through now are the end product of the indisciplined beatnik type freaks that were the youth of the 60's. They then became parents and bred a generation of the same. So it has got worse. Wait until some of the kids of today become pensioners - then you'll have problems from both end's of the spectrum. I am glad to say I'll be well out of it by then, as I am one of the miserable old sod's that you are complaining about!
