Why are threads being closed?

Is it an over reaction by mods that tow threads relating to heat pumps have been closed especially as the most recent one contained nothing inflammatory? Does this mean that any thread where there are opposing views will be closed?

In the most recent thread, the debate was inflammatory as there was clear disrespect of the opinions of other posters. Indeed, you asserted that the opinions of others should be ignored. I attempted to get the thread back on track by deleting the increasing argument. However, you were determined to keep the argument going. At this point Sam locked the thread. There is no problem with opposing views, but derision and disrespect rather than respectful disagreement is not OK. When moderators get increasing reports of such disrespect we have to intervene. When that intervention is also ignored; the thread is locked.

When I am going by direct user experience it is not pleasant to be bullied by people who think they may know better, but have who have never experience or used a unit. However I take your point, but the belittling and bullying needs to be stopped.
